Herb Copes, President, opened the meeting at 7:30pm.
Diana Lett, Secretary/Treasurer, read the minutes of the last meeting, they were approved as read, and followed up with the Treasurer report.
We talked about how the reunion dance turned out on the 10th. We all agreed that everyone seemed to have had a good time. We had an opportunity to hear from a lot of people that they would like for the club to continue. We would also like that, but we have no help or support from the rest of the membership. We had nine (9) people come to the meeting last night, which is normal every month. Out of the nine that attended, 3 of them are officers. We are very fortunate that Herb Copes and Patti Mora stepped up and agreed to be officers in September 2008 so that we could continue and have at least one more Dance Reunion. Now we have had that reunion and according to our by-laws we have to have an election of officers in January following a reunion. At this time, none of the current officers have any plans to continue their positions or any other position. To the best of our knowledge, no one is willing to be an officer. According to our club by-laws, NO OFFICERS, NO CLUB!
Is this what everyone wants? If not, we need some people to start being involved and be willing to participate. We actually have a good time with each other at our meetings. And we have cut back to just doing the Chiliblaze once a year and the Dance Reunion every three years. Just commit to a meeting once a month which is more visiting than meeting, trust me. Please think about this, we don't have much time before we will be forced to shut everything down.
Our meeting continued with discussion about the project of leaving behind something for our club to be remembered by. We have approximately $3000.00 to spend on this project. We decided we would all think about this and if we came up with an idea, we would get prelinary pricing for our idea and present it at the next meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 8:00 pm. with the next meeting date set for November 11, 2009 at 7:00pm. at Parkside Grill?
